Experience Matters

Many of you have been working with me for years, some even the last decade, some only a few months, but I think all of you know that my experience and my talents speak for themselves. What I bring to the table is unique and valuable, it can be hard to put into words - the simplest word that I can think of is that I care. For those of you who are newer to working with me, allow me to give a brief overview of what I do.

I went to massage school after helping my mom in her fight with cancer, a fight that we ended up losing, yesterday would have been her 73rd birthday. Going to massage school was a way for me to heal myself, and also try and heal and help others, the core of my being is a healer - I WANT to help people. Early on in my career I worked in Palliative care with cancer patients, and with stroke victims. I saw first hand the benefits that healing touch brings to people, and I wanted to share that with everyone I could.

Over the years, I continued my education, obtaining advanced degrees in Kinesiology, and Exercise Physiology as well as minors in Psychology and Nutrition. I have taken countless classes, and read a myriad of books on health, wellness, and vitality. I have additional certifications in cupping, sports massage, trigger point therapy, prenatal massage...the list goes on and on. I have created proprietary routines for TMJ therapy and other advanced bodywork modalities. I've been a practicing healer for 15 years! 

As I have grown in experience my interests and specialties have also evolved, I currently specialize in sports rehab bodywork, and somatic holding patterns. I use the term bodywork instead of massage, because it encompasses so much more than just massage - we are working to decrease scar tissue, increase range of motion, break down holding patterns and re-educate your body on how it should feel versus how it does feel. Somatic holding pattern work also delves deeper into the WHY. Why is this happening in the body? What trauma are we holding here? There is extensive evidence on trauma based holding patterns - the book "The Body Keeps the Score" is an excellent educational tool for those of you who are looking to understand more about that. Though I am happy to answer any questions for you that I can. 

There is of course a psychological component to somatic holding patterns, many of you working with me know, our sessions are a mix of torturous rehab massage, energy work and talk therapy. We've got to do it all to unwind that body, I am here to listen to you, and listen to your muscles, and the story that the body is telling. Together we can rewrite that story, and reverse the decline associated with trauma holding - both from physical injuries, and psychological and soul traumas. Working together we - that's you and I, help your body, soul and spirit to elevate, heal and rebirth.

For those of you who are already current clients of mine, I look forward to continuing our work together, I am leveling up my standard of care, and learning more and more about the body and the best ways to heal it. I hope you will continue to be open to receive, because together we are elevating you to a whole new level. 

This elevation might not work for some of you, and I want you to know that your feelings are validated, and respected, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I have built, what I consider, the absolute best team in Houston and I have 100% trust in their bodywork skills. If you choose to remove yourself from my table, you have a team of some of the most skilled practitioners in town to choose from, Elevation Massage and Spa is still your happy place. We are always going to have your back. 

Pricing Details 

My individual pricing has always been a little higher than the team pricing, with this $15 increase it will raise my rates to $25 higher than the team, new rates for working with Maria are effective Feb 1 2024 and are as follows:

60 min: $150

75 min: $160

90 min $180

For those of you on regular rehab schedules with us, who take advantage of the prepaid packages, those are not going anywhere. You will however have a $10 service fee at checkout when using those packages for appointments with me. 

If you have been reticent to check out our other team members, don't be! I am one of the hardest people to please when it comes to massages, and all these ladies pass my tests. We also do monthly education at Elevation Massage and Spa, where we focus on different modalities and techniques to further expand their repertoire and elevate your healing experience.
