Alright, if you’ve been reading our newsletters, checking out our blog, visiting the spa, or checked in with us at all over the past few months, you know how excited we are to have onboarded the Hydrafacial™ system! We’ve been offering Hydrafacial™ treatments to our clients for enough time to start addressing the FAQs we hear regarding the beauty platform, and what better place to answer those questions than in our very own massage and spa blog!?
Okay, with that out of the way, this piece will discuss what is involved for patients who are either between treatment sessions or have reached the end of one program duration and will be taking a hiatus from treatment.
Yes, let’s discuss what you should expect for Hydrafacial™ aftercare and what you’ll need to adapt to your daily health and beauty routine. Good news/spoiler alert: It isn’t very much!
if you’re unfamiliar with the Hydrafacial™ beauty platform, please visit the links below to best inform yourself before reading this article.
So, there are a few phases of Hydrafacial™ aftercare that anyone undergoing the treatment should be aware of, and we’ll break those down for you here.
Glowing Skin: Yes, this is the fun stuff. Your skin will likely look brighter, smoother, and more hydrated immediately after the treatment because the process helps to remove dead skin cells and impurities while infusing the skin with serums rich in antioxidants and peptides.
Light Redness/Sensitivity: Some people may experience slight redness or a feeling of tightness, particularly if they have sensitive skin; we typically see this subside within a few hours of the treatment.
Minimal Downtime: We told you this would be manageable! One of the best things about Hydrafacial™ is that there's little to no downtime. Yes, you can typically resume your daily activities immediately; some even call it the perfect "lunchtime" treatment!
Limit Sun Exposure: After the treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun's rays, so it's important to avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24 to 48 hours. If you're going outside, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. We have a variety of facial SPFs to choose from in-house.
Skip Harsh Skincare Products, Makeup, and Exfoliants: For the first 24 to 48 hours, avoid using exfoliants, retinol, or any skincare products containing alcohol or fragrances. Stick to gentle, hydrating products to allow your skin to recover.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. This will help flush out toxins and maintain that post-Hydrafacial™ glow.
Avoid Heat Exposure: Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense exercise for at least 24 hours. Heat can exacerbate redness and irritation.
Don’t Touch Your Skin: It's natural to want to touch your skin when it feels smooth and fresh, but try to resist! Touching your face can introduce bacteria and lead to breakouts or irritation.
Maintain a skincare Routine: Use gentle cleansers, hydrating serums, and moisturizers suited to your skin type. Hydrafacial™ works magic, but you must stay in your routine between sessions!
Keep Routine Treatments: For the best results, book Hydrafacial™ sessions every few weeks. Regular treatments help maintain clear pores, improve skin texture, and boost hydration. As we’ve said before, the platform tracks your progress and helps recommend treatment strategies each time you come!
So what do you say? Ready for your Houston Hydrafacial™ treatment to begin!
