Greetings, friend; today, we will talk a bit about CBD massage, what it is, what makes it different, and why you should try it! Let’s get started, shall we?
By now, you’re probably quite familiar with the term CBD and have heard that it’s good for you, but many of you (myself included) have wondered how it works and what makes it work for us? This part is pretty cool; continue reading for some science.
CBD Massage - The Science of CBD
CBD (cannabidiol) belongs to the Cannabinoid group, a group of fatty acid compounds found in the hemp plant, but recently we have discovered that they are found in other plants. What’s even cooler, they are found in the human body!
Our bodies respond well to CBD products because we have what is known as the Endocannabinoid System or (ECS). If you’ve never heard of this system, don’t be alarmed, the mainstream world didn’t start hearing about the ECS until the last 5-10 years, even though scientists discovered it in the 1990s.
The ECS is a receptor system that receives/accepts CBD and other cannabinoids throughout the whole body, including the immune system and central nervous system; it also exists within many organs. The ECF supports cells and healthy immune system functions, as well as supporting things like energy, memory, metabolism, and sleep, it’s a pretty cool system, and you can learn more about it here: The Endocannabinoid System.
So, What Is CBD?
CBD is a non-psychoactive/ non-intoxicating Phytocannabinoid derived from hemp plants; there are numerous health benefits associated with CBD oil, many of them relating to pain relief, anxiety, and sleep.
How do we incorporate the use of CBD in massage, and why? Is the massage somehow different? Let’s explore the answers!
- Simply put, we use CBD-infused oils during our CBD massages instead of using lotion, creams, or gels. We use the CBD clinic brand, part of the Charlotte’s Web family. Charlotte’s Web produces some of the highest-quality CBD products on the market. They are an earth-conscious brand and were pioneers in legalizing CBD. In short, their quality and commitment to the planet, health, and healing set them miles apart from other competitors, and using their products is the gold standard in CBD.
- Why do we use CBD? Because it’s amazing! The topical benefits of CBD include reduction in redness, reduction in inflammation, reduction in soreness and pain, and increased stimulation of immune system repair processes.
- Using CBD in a massage helps to extend the benefits of massage, leaving you feeling more relaxed and rested. It helps prolong the post-massage euphoric feels, decrease muscle soreness and inflammation, increase ROM, etc. Our CBD oils also include topical analgesics to further reduce pain and soreness; these are typically lidocaine, camphor, peppermint, and or clove oil. – Adding CBD to a sports massage, for instance, effectively reduces the pain associated with the deep tissue/rehab work.
- The use of CBD oil in massage, aka a CBD Massage, simply is the addition of CBD oil to the treatment. When you book a CBD massage with us, we still take the time to assess your individual needs and create a treatment plan for the session that will be the best for you; the only difference in the treatment and level of care is that you’re automatically enhancing your session with the use of CBD products.
CBD Massage Is a Game-Changer
We sell CBD products in our Houston location. We carry Charlotte’s Web oral tinctures, gummies, and CBD Clinic topical salves; these at home help with immune system functioning and general health, as well as prolonging post-massage pain relief. I love using the topical creams before bed for any aches and pains, particularly arthritis; plus, I feel like I sleep deeper when using, especially when I take the sleepy time gummies!
I hope you enjoyed this little informative piece about CBD and CBD Massage and will try incorporating it into your next session with us; I doubt you’ll ever want a non-CBD massage again!
